Remediation of Large Areas

It is industry standard and best health practices to hire a professional remediation company to clean up large contaminated areas.

We utilize personal protection equipment such as HAZMAT suits, full face filtered respirators, goggles, gloves, or more advance breathing protection while working in contaminated areas. For large consolidated areas of mold growth, we implement OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) protocols. This may include specialized machinery in addition to personal protection equipment.

Our process includes sealing contaminated areas, protecting uncontaminated areas, demolition and/or destructive discovery, extraction and abatement, scrubbing all affected areas, duct sanitization, installation of self-draining dehumidification systems, and independently verified post testing.

Remediation of Small Areas

Protect yourself by using goggles, gloves, and breathing protection while working in the area. For small isolated areas of mold growth, a 3M pink filter full respirator personal protective device is necessary. Seal off area from the rest of your home, cover heat registers or ventilation ducts/grills, and all your furniture. Open a window before you start cleaning up! Bag all moldy materials you will be discarding. Scrub all affected hard surfaces: First with a mild detergent solution, such as laundry detergent and warm water. Then use a solution of 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide to one quart of water. Wait 20 minutes and repeat. Wait another 20 minutes. Last, apply a borate-based detergent solution and do not rinse. This will help prevent mold from growing again. To find a borate-based detergent, read the ingredients listed on the package label for borates. Give the entire area a good cleaning, HEPA vacuum floors, and wash.

I wanted it fixed from the inside as I had already installed a new French drain and re-graded. John and his colleague were very responsive and quite professional. They came quickly to check things out , gave me a fair estimate, and did the job promptly. While they were in the basement they noticed a gas leak which we were able to deal with without incident. I was obviously very happy about that situation. The crack was filled and sealed with a non toxic epoxy, and they came back several days later just to check on things. Hopefully I will not need them again, but if I do, I would happily call them first. read less
